OVERALL: 10…….Eye On Romance, Leah Stolz
"Ms. Lyon has a way of writing that allows the humanity and universality of her characters to shine through. I had to keep reading in order to learn how Jeremiah and Angel would resolve the issues between them. . . . I felt as though I was part of the story and was watching it unfold before me rather than just reading words on the page due to Ms. Lyon’s vivid descriptions."
FIVE STARS…….Huntress’ Reviews, Detra Fitch
"Kate Lyon has written an exciting romance filled with the rich culture of the People and the undeniable passion of two hearts in love. The main characters have multiple problems to overcome, so I was constantly wondering what would happen next. This author has proven to me that she can write breathtaking action and romance, and still have her own distinctive flair shine through. Excellent! *****"

"... Hide the clinch cover behind a book cover if you must, but don’t miss out on this story. It’s already my early contender for the best romance of 2006."

"HOPE'S CAPTIVE is a heartbreakingly beautiful historical romance from Kate Lyon. It tells the tale of the Cheyenne's factually-based flight to freedom and the damage done by all sides: the heartbreaks, the hardships -- lest we forget the horrors of history. Hope is a powerfully compelling force, though, and the beauty of Ms. Lyon's novel (though it's perilous and piercingly poignant at times) is all-encompassing.
HOPE'S CAPTIVE will literally make readers its captive audience; bewitched observers of an incredibly textured and tender accounting of love at its finest and hope at its purest."
Cheryl Jeffries, Heartstrings Reviews
"History, romance, and harsh reality come together to make an unforgettable adventure that will live on in the memories of all readers. Best I've read in a long while!*****

"HOPE'S CAPTIVE, the sequel to the wonderful TIME'S CAPTIVE, is a fabulous historical romance that focuses on the plight of the Cheyenne in the late nineteenth century. Few writers show the skills of Kate Lyon as she provides a powerful story line that enables the audience to feel they are on two trails: with the tribe (the description gets into your gut) and with the lead couple. Fans of American romance will want to read the "Captive" series as Ms. Lyon freshens up what in lesser hands is an overused device................"

“Kate Lyon proves that she is worthy of standing up with the greats like Cassie Edwards and Johanna Lindsey with HOPE'S CAPTIVE. She is a wonderful author who knows how to tell a story and makes every minute worthwhile.”
Kristal Gorman, Romance Readers At Heart
"HOPE'S CAPTIVE is a very touching story that brings forth a true picture of life in the old west. Kate Lyon does a spendid job of creating a realistic storyline . Her characters are not sugar coated, they are flawed and human which makes readers instantly connect with them. Secondary characters are brought out in vivid detail to round out the story. Ms. Lyon's books are like a breath of fresh air for the historical genre."
Tami Sutton, The Best Reviews
“This author has mastered the art of creating a superior character-driven novel. Not only are the hero and heroine bold and commanding, but secondary characters are just as well developed, then woven in to add just what’s needed to reinforce both the emotion and rhythm of the story. Readers will be swept along by the passion and vivid historical detail. The perfect choice for anyone who loves a great historical romance that stays with you long after you’ve turned the last page."
Margaret Ohmes, Fresh Fiction
"A fast-paced, well-written story, HOPE'S CAPTIVE will hold the readers interest throughout. The secondary characters add depth and help move the story along. I highly recommend Kate Lyon's second novel... It is sure to please readers of historical romance."
Joyce Koehl, Romance Reviews Today
"HOPE'S CAPTIVE comes from Kate Lyon, an award winning author, and is sure to please fans of Native American romances. Passions run high, the story moves at a swift pace, and the characters are sure to win your heart. Kate Lyon is a name to watch in the world of Native American romance."

"American historical romances hold special interest for me, particularly when the story accurately portrays a specific time and series of events. Having lived in Oklahoma most of my life, I am more aware than most of the atrocities suffered by the many Native American tribes forced to relocate to reservations in Oklahoma territory during the late 1800s. Hope’s Captive is a gripping tale of the Northern Cheyenne’s flight from the squalid
conditions and pestilence on their reservation back to their original home in Montana." B+

“TIME'S CAPTIVE is one of those rare books that will grab you and not let go until you finish the last page. Kate Lyon has created a sensual romance that is a time travel with fascinating historical details, paranormal elements and a suspenseful plot that will leave you craving for more. The dishes will pile up along with the laundry while you devour this book and even afterwards, as you dream about the incredible hero she has created. The mystical feel that Kate Lyon adds to this story is beyond words. TIME'S CAPTIVE is a must read and it's one of my top 5 favorites for the year.” 5-Ribbons

"This insightful time travel romance emphasizes the era with a realistic portrayal of the inner conflict that Indians struggled with as the tribes contend with self-respect and love for the land vs. overwhelming odds of war with the Anglos and certain devastation. The romance is solid and the cast offers a fabulous look into the past. Readers also receive a deep thought provoking tale that has relevance to what is happening in Iraq. Award winning newcomer Kate Lyon is an author worth keeping an eye on if TIME’S CAPTIVE is any indication of her talent."

KATE SAYS:
"Just had to share this wonderful announcement for my on-line chat on Romance Junkies. The announcement is just. . . awesome. I'm speechless, which is not a common state for me...."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fairy tales and happy endings – these are just some of the magical components we wish for in our own lives. Being able to share them through the beautiful art of writing is truly a gift. When an author is able to live that dream, and watch as her own story comes to life right before her eyes…that, my friends, is something most unique and breathtaking. It’s the story of a lifetime. This is the story of Kate Lyon.
Romance Junkies is proud to announce that on Thursday, September 9th, this new voice of romance, Kate Lyon, will be joining us for a spectacular night of chat beginning at 9:00 PM EST. It’s through her conviction and desire that Kate has realized her dream. Over many years, her dedication and persistence have brought her to this special time in her life.
Her debut novel, TIME’S CAPTIVE, published through Dorchester Publishing, has many interesting stories surrounding it. “From the beginning, Time's Captive has been remarkable. Many startling, often unexplainable events marked its creation, and it started winning awards when I only had 9 pages written. It's truly the book of my heart.”
It would be worth your while to visit Kate’s website, http://www.katelyon.net/, and read for yourself the trials and tribulations that have happened over the last several years for her to get to this point. Patience is certainly a virtue…challenge is always a friend…but, honestly, could there ever be another way?
TIME’S CAPTIVE was the Winner of the 2003 Romantic Times/Dorchester Publishing New Voice In Romance Contest. It’s received stunning reviews from the romance community, one of which is our own Romance Junkies review, which can be found here: http://www.romancejunkies.com/artman/publish/article_1806.shtml
Romance Junkies also had the good fortune to get to know Kate a bit better during an interview with this talented and insightful woman.
It is now my pleasure to present to you a glimpse into TIME’S CAPTIVE, a time-travel/historical that takes a modern heroine back to the Comanche surrender in 1875.
Desperate to save the Comanche people from starvation, Black Eagle, a Comanche warchief, seeks aid in a vision quest. To his amazement his vision produces a beautiful woman, who he promises to protect at all costs. Kris Baldwin thought she had her life on track until her grandmother's mystical shamanism lands her back in time, in the arms of a man who believes she's a messenger from the Great Spirit. Together Kris and Black Eagle struggle to save the Comanche from a fate that can't be avoided, and discover a love that even time can't deny.
