Hello, Spring!

Here’s a warm “Hello!” from the very chilly South where we’re all huddled in our houses praying that the latest cold spell blows through quickly and that Spring is hot on its heels. (Yes, I live a rich fantasy life.) The prognosis is good, though, and we welcome any wet stuff Mother Nature sees fit to send our way.

As you may have heard, the deep South, and northern Alabama, is suffering the worst drought this area’s ever known. In fact, the drought’s so bad, it’s affecting my writing. Or is that all in my head? Weather-related or not, there’s certainly been a drought in my office. I’m ready to call for a rain dance!

Consequently, in addition to a shortage of rain, there hasn’t been much writing news. But. . . .you guessed it! Things are picking up, and looking up, too. Not only have I made progress on my current work-in-progress, but I have great news, too!

Hope’s Captive has been sold to a German publisher and will be on sale in Germany shortly. Am I thrilled, ecstatic, overjoyed? Yes, yes, yes! If the cover is interesting, I’ll upload a copy of it when I receive my complimentary copies.

In other news, I’ll “unhuddle” to participate in two booksignings this spring, both here in Huntsville.

The first will be March 29th at the “Female & Fabulous” convention here in Huntsville’s Von Braun Center. I’ll be hard to find, however, as I’ll be dodging Clinton Kelly, of What Not To Wear fame. Rumor is, he’ll be giving away a makeover! (I’d love to have one, but it’s way too public for me! That 360-degree mirror of his exposes way more than my heart can handle.) The Heart of Dixie chapter of Romance Writers of America® plans to sponsor a booth, which I will help man from 2–4 pm, and where I will autograph and GIVE AWAY copies of Time’s Captive and Hope’s Captive. (Quantities are limited, so don’t be late!)

Next, the Heart of Dixie chapter’s annual Readers’ Luncheon will be held on May 17th, also at the Von Braun Center. The door prizes at this luncheon are fabulous, there’s a wonderful lottery, and every attendee is entered in a drawing for incredible baskets provided by the authors. Following the luncheon, the attending authors will autograph their books. Remember that a portion of the proceeds from the book sales is donated to the Huntsville Public Library. Tickets to this event are available in advance or at the door. If you’d like to register early, forms are available at: www.heartofdixie.org.
